The Game of life is a collection of articles first published in the Toorak
Times from 2001 onwards. The articles reflect on the spiritual
journey of human beings and offer a spiritual view on life’s ups and
downs.
Designed to reconnect us with our spiritual essence, the true ‘I AM’ that has been long forgotten for most humans, these reflections can have a profound effect on the reader. Simply bringing conscious awareness to issues previously dealt with merely at a subconscious level is able to radically alter our perception of life.
As we explore and understand the human trinity of Mind, Body and Spirit, we uncover an intricate interrelationship between our spiritual well-being and our overall happiness. The illusive search for ultimate pleasure and the avoidance of pain can only be achieved in a lasting sense when we nourish our spiritual essence and reconnect with our source.
The reflections in this book invite the reader on a mystical journey
of self-discovery. The mystic’s journey has always been one of
experiential learning rather than compliance with dogma and ritualistic
mumbo-jumbo.
The mystic’s journey encourages the use of the all-important gift of
free will. There is no reliance on an intermediary. The ultimate
guidance comes from our own intuition, our own inner guide. Teachers
and mentors may provide guidance, but the ultimate choice is made
by the seeker, based on their own assessment of their personal
experiences.
The messenger is never more important than the message.
The message must stand on its own foundation, without the need for
propping up through impressive titles, background or experience of
the messenger. Truth can and should be tested with fire. Only then
will the non-truth be stripped away and we are left with the truth,
the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The most powerful lies
and deceits propagated by the forces of darkness have always been
partial truths. Without that core element of truth the lies would be
easily recognised and discarded by the masses.
It is important to understand the testing of knowledge with fire.
Fire in this context represents Love. How can knowledge be tested
with Love? The answer is simple. The truth is always simple.
Here is a simple question that will enable us to discern truthful and
erroneous information.

The Game of Life – Choosing Life
We have been talking about the development of spiritual virtues as we progress along the spiritual path. In this article we will take a short break and review the issue of euthanasia that is getting much attention at present.
Central to understanding the pros and cons of euthanasia is understanding of the sanctity of life. The sanctity of life, not just as a concept or theory, but as a living virtue. A virtue, that drives our everyday choices and decisions.
Life is not limited to the human experience
What is life? Life is not limited to the human experience of course. Life is inherent in our spiritual nature, our essence. Spirit is immortal and never changing in essence. The human journey allows us to experience apparent change as part of the evolutionary journey. The purpose of the evolutionary journey is to gain a deeper understanding, or rather to rediscover, of the sanctity and oneness of life
